Isobel’s War – Episode 1
Spring 1944. Britian has been at work for nearly 5 years. Allied troops have been advancing up the Italian Peninsula and there is a feeling, just a feeling, that a major attack on Germany will begin soon.
In Oxford, a young woman has decided that she needs to do something for the war beyond rolling bandages for the local Women’s Voluntary Service Centre. Her choice is the Boatwoman’s Training Scheme, a program that puts women in charge of canal boats to transport war materiel.
Is this episode, Isobel, tells her family of her decision and begins her training as a boatwoman.
